Replacements reform? It seems like every few weeks on the internet you hear about the Replacements getting back together and doing a one off show. I’ve heard it so many times now, I’m skeptical everytime the subject comes up.

Well this time it might be for real. Well at least I’ve seen a real photo of everyone together, and in the studio to boot!! Woo hoo. New Replacements songs? Could it be?

At least now it’s a pretty reliable source. According to Billboard:

“Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson and Chris Mars have reunited to record two new songs for an upcoming retrospective, “Don’t You Know Who I Think I Was?: The Best of the Replacements.” Due June 13 on Rhino, the set will feature “Message to the Boys” and “Pool & Dive,” the band’s first new recordings in 16 years. “

Josh Freese did the drum work. Chris Mars only sang backup tracks. Apparently he’s been slacking on the drums and focusing only on his art lately. Can’t blame him, his art is awesome. Both songs were penned by Paul Westerberg (no surprise there) and were recorded at producer and Polara front man Ed Ackerson’s Flowers studio in Minneapolis.
